Providence Athlete Shines in International Canoe Slalom

We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Hunter Florrison, one of our talented students who is making waves in the world of canoe slalom.

In January 2023, Hunter fearlessly competed in the prestigious Australian Open, a global canoe slalom competition that draws athletes from across the world. In a display of exceptional skill and determination, Hunter secured an impressive 4th place among Australian athletes in the K1 discipline. Additionally, he clinched a remarkable 4th overall position (3rd among Australian participants) in the challenging C1 discipline.

Hunter's dedication and skill have been further recognised as he has been selected to join the Australian Junior Canoe Slalom team. He is all set to represent Australia in the upcoming World Championship, scheduled to take place in Krakow, Poland this August. Currently sharpening his skills through training stints in Prague and Bratislava, Hunter's journey to Krakow is a testament to his unwavering commitment to his sport.

Hunter's aspirations know no bounds. He has set his sights on becoming a part of the Australian junior team in 2024 and later earn a spot in the senior team. His long-term dream is to proudly represent Australia in the 2032 Olympic Games.

We are confident that Hunter's relentless dedication and talent will pave the way for him to achieve these remarkable milestones.

Congratulations, Hunter!
