Gosnells Golf Club

As part of the programme, students will attain a junior membership at Gosnells Golf Club. This will open up access to the pristine facilities across the road from the College, as well as entry into the Junior Competitions held at the club.

Gosnells have a fantastic reputation in the Junior golf ranks, winning 3 Junior Pennant Competitions in 2023, finishing runner-up in the Girls Division 1 and developing the junior player of the year 2024. PGA Professional Calum Juniper was highly involved in coaching these juniors and heads up the coaching that our students receive. This coaching involves state-of-the-art analysis equipment, including a Flightscope launch monitor.

Before School Group Lessons
Two mornings a week, students will be able to participate in group lessons before school over the road at Gosnells Golf Club. These will be run by PGA Professional Calum Juniper and supervised by a College Staff Member. Students will do skill-based practice and focus on technique, using technology supplied by the golf club. Students will also head out on course to play holes and learn course management skills.

Class Lessons
From 2026, students in the PGA will have the opportunity to select Golf as a timetabled subject in Years 8, 9 and 10. Some time will be spent on-campus in the golf facility, some time spent over at Gosnells Golf Club, and some time spent in a classroom developing self-management skills such as leadership, resilience and sportsmanship. Some of these will be combined with the Specialist Basketball Programme.

All applicants will be invited to attend a Practical Trial which will be communicated by the Providence Golf Academy Coordinator. Students will be advised of the outcome of their application within two weeks of participating in the practical trial.

Applicants who cannot attend the practical trial may have the opportunity to join the programme. However, this will be at the discretion of the Providence Golf Academy Coordinator.

Selection Process

The Providence Golf Academy is aimed at students with existing skills, interest and potential in the sport of Golf. Only a limited number of students are selected to join the Programme in Years 7 to 10 in 2025.

Part of the selection process includes a practical trial that assesses physical attributes, golf skills and knowledge. In addition, the selection process includes the review of recent school reports and feedback from appropriate referees.

Beyond golf ability, it is expected that the students selected for the Programme will have an outstanding attitude toward all aspects of College life. Students who are members of the PGA will be required to meet certain standards in behaviour in the classroom, academics and golfing ability. We believe that in order for a student to achieve their best in golf, appropriate levels of attitude and effort in all areas of life are key. Therefore, students will sign a contract stating they will meet these standards.
