National Science Week 2023

14th - 18th of August

National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology with thousands of people taking part. Individuals including students, scientists, chefs and musicians get involved, taking part in more than 1000 science events across the nation.

2023 marks the 9th year that Providence Christian College has celebrated National Science Week in the Secondary School. The Science Learning Area will celebrate National Science Week by running a series of fun, engaging activities in the Year 7-10 classes throughout the week, as well as some extra special events.

💻 Kahoot Quiz

On Monday, we will be running a Science Kahoot Quiz during Form class.

✈️ Paper Plane Competition

On Wednesday, the College will be running a paper plane-making and throwing competition involving students from Year 5 through to Year 12.

🚀 Science Assembly

On Thursday during the Secondary Assembly, we will:

  • Run our annual Science Kahoot Quiz Finals
  • Announce the winners of the Year 9 Santos Science Experience Scholarships from Rotary.
  • Test the strength of the bridges made by our Year 10 extension students.
  • Hear from former student Dr Toshan Mohabeer about his career in Medicine.
👖 Jeans for Genes

On Friday, we will host a Jeans for Genes event for College staff and Secondary Students to raise funds for the Children's Medical Research Institute. Donations can be made online or via cash to Form Teachers.
