Early Learning

Nurturing hearts and minds through Christ-centered early education for a bright future.

Christian Education

At Providence Christian College, we believe that relationship is at the very heart of community life. In Early Learning, we provide a safe, supportive environment where children are encouraged to live in relationship by learning to work together, sharing experiences, and communicating with one another. We also believe parents play an important role in their child’s education, and we welcome parents into the classroom to share and participate in the programme. This partnership with parents is fostered throughout the College in a variety of ways.

Curriculum

At Providence Christian College, our Early Learning Programme provides children with the opportunity to participate in activities that are designed to meet their individual learning needs while offering opportunities to reinforce and extend learned concepts and skills. We believe in "learning for life" and seek to educate the "whole child" spiritually, socially, emotionally and academically. Early Years learning (K-2) is underpinned by the principles and practices of the Early Years Learning Framework. The Western Australian Kindergarten Guidelines provide direction for our Kindergarten curriculum, and Pre-Primary to Year Two students are taught the content of the Western Australian Curriculum.

We believe that children are created uniquely, are diverse in their character and personality, and have learning needs particular to them as individuals. Through a balance of investigative play and clear, explicit teaching, we aim to provide a well-rounded and considered programme that provides an opportunity for children to test out ideas, challenge their thinking and develop and create new understandings. Our curriculum also introduces important fundamental Christian values through the way we interact with each other, as well as through the sharing of Bible stories, prayer, scripture and songs.
