Name: Dave Stevens

Position: Deputy Chairperson, currently Acting Chairperson.

About: Currently serving as the State Executive Officer for Christian Schools Australia, Dave brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having taught and lead in a range of schools and countries. Dave is enthusiastic about most things, especially Christian educational. Previously he served for 12 years as the Executive Principal of Alta-1. Dave was a 2015 Churchill Fellowship recipient where he explored root causes for student
disengagement from education.

Dave’s knowledge across a broad range of specialist areas, educational sectors and contexts, is evidenced in his ability to develop alternative programs that meet the needs of the students and teachers whilst addressing the requirements of legislation. His work is internationally recognized for the significant impact that Alta-1 College is having on
student engagement, and his passion for Relational Schools will assist all schools in student wellness and retention.

Kerry & Dave have been married for 30yrs and have 5 young men they call sons and have been foster parents for over 12yrs. Family, friends, good food, raucous laughter and the love of his Heavenly Father are close to this large man’s heart.

Name: Estelle Armstrong

Position: Treasurer

About: Estelle Armstrong was appointed to the Board in 2020 as a Board Member. In 2021 Estelle took on the role as Treasurer.

Estelle currently works as a Bank Manager with a major Australia bank. She has over 30 years of experience in working in major banks overseas and in Australia.

Name: Renier van der Klashorst

Position: Board member

About: Renier is a passionate follower of Jesus Christ. As a passionate follower of Jesus, he is compelled to share the great news of the gospel in his role as lead pastor of Thornlie Church of Christ, the founding church of Providence Christian College. He has been a board member since 2015. 

Renier, qualified as pastor in South Africa with a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology. He is married to his beautiful bride Marguerite and have three children of which two are still in Providence Christian College.  Last but not least is the family’s favourite dog, Max. 

He loves the outdoors, 4wding and exploring this magnificent country with long road trips.

Name: Trevor Beard

Position: Board member

About: Trevor Beard has been a part of the Board since 2011, when he was invited to join by his home church, Thornlie Church of Christ. His desire is to see young people taught and shown the way of Christ and God’s Plan for their lives. He brings a variety of skills from working in Management Roles in a number of different industries including Travel and Tourism, Freight and Logistics, Construction and Rail. Never too old to take up a new challenge, currently he is completing an Adult Electrical Apprenticeship.

Trevor and his wife Karen are the WA Region Managers of MMM Australia, whose Centre is built on the College grounds, demonstrating a passion to “Serve those whose Serve” through this practical ministry. They have 3 married children and 6 grandchildren who often can be seen at the Centre making it a very crowded house.

If you can’t find Trevor at home it is most likely you will hear him around the streets, passing time with a ride on his Harley Davidson Fatboy.

Name: Elisabeth Chieng

Position: Board member

About: Elisabeth (EJ) Chieng was appointed to the Board in 2019 and is a former student of Providence Christian College.

She currently works in stakeholder engagement and has more than 10 years’ experience in strategic marketing, communications, stakeholder relations and program management across the private and public sector. She holds a Bachelor of Communications, with a double major in journalism and public relations from Murdoch University. 

Elisabeth is married with a daughter, and is actively involved with her church community at KingdomCity Canning Vale.

Name: Joshua Lee

Position: Board Member

About: Joshua Lee joined the Board in 2022.

Joshua has over 20 years experience in the legal profession. His legal career began in Kuala Lumpur in 2021, where he worked as an intellectual property lawyer in a prestigious legal firm.

Joshua was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2009 and gained admission to practice in Western Australia in 2016, where he currently resides and practices.
