Providence Student Wins CBCA Make Your Own Story Book Competition
As part of our Year 2 Elevate Junior program, students recently had the opportunity to become published authors by creating and submitting their own picture books to the competition. With more than 550 entries across the competition, Hudson’s story, Timmy, The Very Plain Plane, was selected as the winning entry.
Hudson’s book tells the story of a piece of paper who feels plain and left out. When a boy turns him into a paper plane, Timmy goes on a big adventure to find where he belongs.
Hudson shared:
I love making paper planes! My book, Timmy, The Very Plain Plane, is about a piece of paper who feels plain and left out. When a boy turns him into a paper plane, Timmy goes on a big adventure to find where he belongs. My favourite message from the story is: “He realised he didn't need to be the same as everyone else. He had a purpose and was special, just the way he was.” Timmy’s adventure reminds us that we can be ourselves and still belong.
Hudson’s story carries a beautiful message about belonging, purpose and having the confidence to be yourself. His achievement highlights the creativity, imagination and storytelling skills our students are developing through opportunities such as Elevate Junior.
