Newsletter 19 October 2020
Dear Parents and Friends of Providence
With Term 4 well-begun, we are now on the ‘home straight’ for 2020, one of the strangest years, I’m sure that you will agree, we’ve ever experienced!
Despite everything that COVID-19 could – and did – throw at us, we are well on the way to ensuring that our students have not missed out on the many, special milestones that make each year of a Providence education so special. This is thanks to the commitment of our very special team of Teachers, Administration and Support staff.
In Term 1 and 2, they were able to respond almost seamlessly to the need for quality, remote learning opportunities and then there followed the challenges of teaching while ensuring social distancing and personal hygiene in the classroom and on the oval.
In Term 3, our staff moved heaven and earth to fit as many of the camps, excursions, sporting events and showcases missed in Term 1 and 2, into an incredibly busy Term 3.
And now we are on track to end 2020 well after another busy term ahead.
Our Year 12s are coming to the end of their College journey with their Final Assembly taking place this week and their Valedictory Dinner next week.
Watching them enjoying themselves on the River Cruise on Saturday night, I reflected on how they have grown and matured into such wholesome, young people over their years with us. They are living proof of our commitment to, “…develop people of influence…” as articulated in our College Vision Statement. I have no doubt that they are going to go out and make the world a better place through the things that will do and say, wherever they may find themselves!
We wish them well as they finish their senior year and move on to the next exciting chapter in their lives!

Welcome to Term Four. It is a short, fast-paced term with lots of exciting events. It is a big term for our Year Six students’ as it is their last term in the Primary School. Please make sure you keep a close eye on the calendar, as we have moved some events to better suit this term. Any changes in the calendar will be sent out early so you will all have plenty of notice.
Please pray for the school this term as we continue to plan for our new school build. As soon as we have approval from the Council, we will be able to share more with you. I am so excited to be part of the next stage of development at Providence Christian College.
Welcome back to all families and a special warm welcome to our four new students and their families. This week will witness the end of formal schooling for our Year 12 students and for some of them, the beginning of their final revision programme in preparation for the forthcoming WACE examinations. As in previous years, this week will be full of farewell activities including the annual Senior School River Cruise, their year group breakfast, the whole College Final Assembly, the traditional Valedictory Service and Dinner and to relax after a very busy academic final year and certainly an unusual and challenging year, the Leavers Retreat. To wind up the year, the Senior School Awards and Presentation evening.
On behalf of all of the staff, I wish them well with all that lies ahead, between now and the Awards and Presentation evening. I wish them every success, happiness and fulfilment in the future. Our thoughts and prayers go with them as they begin a very exciting phase in their lives. Thank you to each one of them for the contribution they have made in so many facets of College life.
